Rebates – Reward or Rip Off?

Rebate is a pleasing word for every buyer in today’s economy, where price hike is a biggest don. Recession in economy and inflation in the price of each product is causing market fall.

Rebate for a lay man means reduction in money from the item he/she is paying for.

In the last few years rebates on a lot of items certainly on electronic items and computers have become increasingly popular; rebates of $20, $50 or $100 are not uncommon.

Advertisement as “free after rebate” do these rebates come under the heading of “too good to be true”? Some of them do but if you are careful and there are “catches” to watch out. And sometime it really helps you to get a big deal.

We all are aware about the rebate, do we have any idea of the way a rebate works. In the procedure first you have to pay the listed price for an item then mail in a form and the bar code to the manufacturer and they send you a sum of money [refund] reducing the price of what you paid for the item except with a time delay of several weeks.

There are some set of rules which advice you good tips for your next purchase and rebate:

ule #1. Do not over estimate any reputable company; rebates from those usually just fine.

You can trust on promised rebate from your Best Buy, Amazon or Dell but you should probably not rely on those companies you’ve never heard of. If you really want the product and are OK with paying the price listed then buy it but don’t count on actually getting the refund.

Rule #2. Check validity of rebate

Many times products will rests on the window of a retailer after the date off for the rebate offer, so check that date carefully.

Rule #3.
Before saying thanks to the retailer be sure you have all the forms required to file for the rebate you want.

Three very necessary things you require for getting rebate is a form to be filled out, a receipt for the purchase and a bar code.

Rule #4. Provide back up to your rebate claim.

Make photocopy of every document you send into get your rebate including the bar code. Back up for the Stuff of $50 and above to avoid the trouble.
